MADAWASKA - Armand J. Tardif, 77, died peacefully Saturday, October 17, 2015, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. He was born November 11, 1937, a son of the late Thomas and Anna (Gagnon) Tardif.
Armand owned and operated Tardif Electric in Madawaska for approximately 50 years, helping many area residents with their electrical needs. Previously, he worked as an electrician for several years with the Fraser Mills. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, and the American Legion, and volunteered his talents with Mizpah and Madawaska's Four Corners Park. In his limited spare time, Armand could be found doing woodwork in his workshop.
He is survived by: his wife of 25 years, Marie (Lizotte) Tardif of Madawaska;
two children, Janice Gray and her husband Bill of Baltimore, MD & Jean Waltz of Madawaska; four step children, Jay Pittman and his wife Gwendolyn "Dean" of Vidalia, GA, Rita Branan and her husband Larry of Senoia, GA, Stan Pittman of Natches, MS, Tammy LaBonty and her husband Andrew of Cape Elizabeth; three siblings, Lucille Paradis of Frenchville, Ester Gill and her husband Jim of Millinocket, Rita Long and her husband Bill of Chillicothe, OH; six grandsons, Matthew, Keith, Connor, Cody, Jacob Ryan & Nicholas; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Armand is predeceased by his first wife, Florence Parent, four siblings, Yvette Tardif, Pricille Paradis, Mary Anne Lowney, and Edgar Tardif.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday evening, 6-8:00 PM and Thursday morning 8:30-9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska.
