Arlington June's Story
- Arlington June (Wilson) Chipman, 87, of Falmouth, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2017.
She was born in Londonderry Station, Nova Scotia, to Scottish-Irish parents, Daisy and Page Wilson, whose ancestors immigrated to the Maritimes of Canada in the late 1700's to Cape Breton Island and Montrose, N.S. June was the only one of 9 children to immigrate to the United States in 1948 at the age of 19 to Malden, Mass. She worked several secretarial jobs until her marriage to Hubert Howard Chipman (Chip) in 1950, where they met at a square dance. Once married they built their first home in Reading, Massachusetts, and started their loving family.
In 1963, June moved to Cape Elizabeth with her family before relocating north to East Hampden in 1967 and finally back to Falmouth in 1980. In 1994 Chip sadly passed away in Falmouth at the age of 70. There June solidly, simply, and confidently made herself a self made women as a homemaker, fashion craftsperson, and maintenance guru in her own house for 23 years until her recent passing. June loved family, cooking, reading, rhubarb, and of course hockey games. She was very crafty person spending time with arts and crafts, tailoring, quilting, embroidery, knitting, needlepoint, and sewing. Some of her accomplishments were the fabricating of a Sioux 18' first nation tepee, as well as many outdoor camping goods. All the while, she patiently waited for road trips back "down home" to Canada in August and January of almost every year. She was active in bridge clubs, book discussions, and community craft events. She loved the Dachshunds, which became her companions for many years and was a collector of unusual friends. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her three sons - Edward L. Chipman, 63, of Edwards, Colorado, and his wife Susan, David B. Chipman, 57,of Falmouth, Maine, and Gregory O. Chipman, 55, of Jacksonville, Florida; three lovely granddaughters Katherine, 21, Kaili, 32, Berkeley, 30; her siblings Theodore Wilson and Jeanette McKinnon. She was predeceased by her daughter Arlene Chipman in 1960 siblings Lester Wilson, Lawrence Wilson, Rutheen Spencer, Isabel (Tiny) McCully, Joyce Tarr and Malcolm Wilson.
