Anna's Story

MILFORD - Anna Patricia Holmes, 79, passed away peacefully May 26, 2016, at Easter Maine Medical Center. Anna was born in Newark, New Jersey April 20, 1937, the daughter of Victor and Clara (Zabriski) Stary.

Anna was a hard working individual, who could really make a dollar go a long way. She loved to night crawling after rain storms and sold night crawlers to fishermen near and far. Fishermen traveling from away would sometimes call her in advance to just place an "order" of crawlers. Anna loved to be able to help out by doing something she enjoyed. She made the lives for others special with her gardening abilities; she had passersby stop just to take pictures of her flowers in her wonderful garden which she was very proud of. Anna was a frequent couponer, which led to her spending countless hours of shopping, but saving money in the process.

Anna was survived by her brother Dexter Stary and his domestic partner Stephanie Pulsinelle of N.J.; her daughter Donna Dalton and husband Mark; sons, Danny and Jody Holmes of TX, Edward and Judy Holmes, Victor and Kelly Holmes, and Andy Holmes; her ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, and her two sons, Richard and Kenny Holmes.

A celebration of Anna's life will be held at 2pm Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town, ME 04468. The family would like to invite friends and family to stay for light refreshments and continued fellowship immediately following Anna's celebration of life.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Anna's caretakers, Cheryl Wood, Lisa Bouchard, and Autumn of Life, for making it possible for Anna to spend her final days at home.

The family would like any donations in Anna's name to be made to Samara Exotic Animal Refuge 1356 County Rd., Greenfield, ME 04423
