VERONA ISLAND - Andrew James Wentworth, 30, of Verona Island passed away peacefully after a short illness, Thursday, August 20 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1984 in Blue Hill, the son of Daniel and Stormi Wentworth of Verona Island. Andy was a 2003 graduate of Bucksport High School, where he excelled as a member of the 2003 Eastern Maine Champion Golden Bucks baseball team.
Andy was a hard working employee in the bait processing industry. He and his special friend Jen enjoyed storm chasing, Tom Hanks' movies, music, and baseball. Jen's children, Devin, Travis, and Shane, were very dear to him as he enjoyed beach trips and playing ball with them. He enjoyed playing softball, especially with his family, participating in the Jared Grindle Memorial Tournament. Andy loved playing cards, and shined in picking winners in his dad's yearly football pool.
"A" was predeceased by maternal grandparents Douglas and Dot Gray of Cape Rosier, as well as paternal grandparents Charles and Barbara Wentworth Sr. of Bucksport.
He is survived by his parents Dan and Stormi of Verona Island, brother Peter of Bangor, brother Cameron of Verona Island, and his girlfriend Jennifer Snowman of Bucksport. Andy was deeply loved by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The Wentworth Family would like to express their deep appreciation to a special aunt, Brigid Wentworth, special friends, Joe Peak and Debbie Snow, Steve and Juanita Bowden, as well as the CCU staff at EMMC for their care and compassion.
The Wentworth family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of Andy's life Tuesday, August 25, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm St., Bucksport from 6p.m. to 8p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. The Olusola Adewole will celebrate the mass. Andy will be buried at the Evergreen Cemetery on Cape Rosier.
