- Andrew was an incredible man, husband, and father. After moving across country from Maine to Arizona in June 2015, with his wife and three young children to realize their dreams, Andrew was diagnosed shortly thereafter with melanoma. Sadly, he succumbed to the cancer on November 1st, 2016, after less than a year long battle. His wife was able to bring him home to die peacefully with her and their three young children just the day before he passed.
Andrew's smile and sense of humor were contagious. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and will be remembered by all who knew him for his genuine kindness, humor, and love for his family and friends.
Andrew was born and raised in Machias and graduated from Machias Memorial High School. He lived in the central Maine area for several years thereafter working at Pine State Trading Company for twelve years, then Backyard Farms for three before moving out of state with his family.
Andrew leaves behind his devoted wife of ten years, Katie (Vintinner) Hewett, three beautiful young children, Nicholas (9), Oliver (6), and Molly (2); his mother, Janet Williamson Hewett; father-in-law, Darryl Vintinner and wife, Penny Trafton-Vintinner; a sister, Sarah Curran; beloved niece, Anna Staples; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other family and loving friends. He was predeceased by his father, John Everett Hewett, aunts and uncles, and both sets of grandparents.
Andrew's informal Celebration of Life will be held at the Waterville Elks Club downstairs on November 26th from 11:30-5. His family welcomes all who knew and loved Andrew and his family to attend. Children are more than welcome as Andrew would've wanted.
