He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Donna (Kimball) Gray, in 1994; his sister, Dorothea (Dolly) McGraw of Clinton; and his brother, Albert Gray of Troy.

Alvin is survived by his son, Michael Gray and his wife, Peg, of Pittsfield; his grandchildren, Christine Gray of Pittsfield and Jaime Gray of Chicago; his great-grandchildren, Patrick Cookson, Meghan Cookson and Maxwell Cookson of Pittsfield, Brody Gray and Brooklyn Gray of Newport; one brother, Alton Gray and his wife, Hilda, of Plymouth; his sisters, Iola Gray-Berg of San Antonio and Althea Mishoe of Dayton; a half brother, Edward Gray of Machias; several nieces and nephews.
