Alton's Story

BANGOR - Alton C. Withee, age 86, formerly of Eddington, husband of Pauline Withee, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2014, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. Alton was born on December 27, 1927, in Hartland, son of the late Lois Corbett and Frank Withee.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Patten; a daughter, Darlane Lee and her husband, Ardie, of Eddington; a son, Alton Jr. and his wife, Queen, of Lexington, North Carolina; two sisters, Glenice Hodgson of Cape Elizabeth and Joyce King of Rowley, Mass.; a brother, Frank Withee of Greene; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Alton was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Pat Withee; and two brothers, Clint & Gordon Withee.

Al worked for many years at R Leon Williams Lumber Co, of Clifton and started his own construction company A&D Son & Daughter, which was his dream. Al served in the U.S. Army in the 29th ENGR TOPO BN in Manila, P.I., was a Master Mason at Ralph Ballard Lodge in Orrington and belonged to the East Eddington Community Church. Al loved golfing, hunting and fishing. For many years he enjoyed going to Florida in the Winters and back home in the spring.

To honor our fathers wishes their will be no funeral services. A private graveside service will take place in the spring.
