St. Francis and Fort Kent
- Alphandore 'Pat' Jandreau, 90, of St. Francis and Fort Kent, Maine, passed away on September 27, 2016. He was born, May 6, 1926, in St. Francis, the son of Victor and Isabelle Gagnon Jandreau. Pat attended one room schools in St. Francis while working on the family farm.
He enjoyed transporting goods and groceries with his dog and sled as a child; he was also a water boy on the log drives in his early teens. Drafted into the U.S. Army on October 31, 1944, Pat served in the Pacific Theater with the 7th Army 13th Tank Battalion, commanding a fleet of fourteen tanks and reaching the rank of tech sergeant. After his honorable discharge on November 30, 1946, Pat returned to St. Francis; working as an independent trucker for many years. After his trucking retirement in 1977, Pat also worked as a skidder operator, woods chopper, woods boss, and at several community odd jobs.
Pat enjoyed the outdoors; snowmobiling, four wheeling, and had a passion for horses, of which he owned several over the years. Pat could often be found on his property cutting and yarding wood with his horse. Pat was a member of St. Francis American Legion Jandreau/Connors Post 180, Fort Kent Veterans of Foreign Wars Lozier/O'Grady Post 9606, St. Francis Sno-Angles Snowmobile Club; St. Francis Historical Society, St. Charles and St. Louis Catholic Churches.
Pat was predeceased by his wife of sixty-six years (2015), Eldina McBreairty Jandreau of Allagash, Maine. Together, Pat and Eldina enjoyed music and dancing, gardening, canning fresh vegetables, family picnics, camping and visiting family and friends. They had six children; Bella Cyr and husband Edmund, Donna Madore and husband Paul, Bennett and wife Karen, Carolyn Plourde and husband Daniel, Bryan and wife Randi, Sandy Pelletier and husband Dan; ten grandchildren, Scott Lizotte (Nadia), Shawn Lizotte, Danielle Lizotte, Aaron Madore (Angie), Allie Pelletier (Joe), Jodi Guy (Travis), Kyle Jandreau, Dustin Plourde (Hillary), Reece and Darci Pelletier; eight great grandchildren, Jayden and Aylee Lizotte, Angelik Hebert, Elleinad Paradis, Savannah Pelletier, Abigail and Caleb Guy, and Connor Jandreau. Pat was predeceased by two sisters and one brother; Bella Plourde, Verna Jandreau and Marvin Jandreau; he is survived by ten siblings; Winnefred Jandreau, Vina Ouellette, Irene Martin, Hansley Jandreau (Linda), Marybelle Jandreau (Medric), Nadine Taggett (Roy), Margie Taggett (Clyde), Angie Taggett (Carol), Nelson Jandreau (Gene) and Calvin Jandreau (Gin); many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Monday, October 3, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with full military honors will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
