Allison's Story

BIRCH HARBOR AND COREA - Allison "Pappy" Bishop, 91, died Monday, March 30, 2015, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Corea, the son of Harry and Verlie (Rolfe) Bishop.

Allison served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong lobster fisherman and an original founder of the Corea Lobster Co-op. Pappy loved Tunk Lake, UMaine hockey and the Red Sox.

He is survived by his daughter Cindy of Birch Harbor; two sons, Thomas Bridges and companion, Madolyn Byers, of Gouldsboro and Richard Bridges and wife, Jean, of Birch Harbor; grandchildren, Greta Lowe, Betsy Lowe and companion, Pete Daley, Susan Carr and husband, Jon, Joshua Bridges and wife, Megan, Crystal Bridges, Bryan Bridges and wife, Pam, Barbara Courchesne and husband, Mark, Brenda Rice, Kim Atherton and husband, Steve, Richard Bridges Jr., Tammy Mann, Michael Bridges and Bobby Myrick; several great-grandchildren, including his "special" great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Mary and Sophie Dube, Benjamin Allison Carr, Blake and Grafton Bridges; several great-great-grandchildren; his niece, Doris Faulkingham; nephew, Harry Bishop and wife, Joanne; nephew, Leslie Bishop and wife, Kim; and niece, Eleanor Hammond and husband, Harold. Pappy was predeceased by his wife, Corinne "Lassie"; and his brothers, Ellis and Lewis Bishop. He will also be greatly missed by his cousin, "Babe" Crowley; his close friend, Avery Chipman; and friend, Alfreda Bacon. Special thank you to his caregivers, Nancy Chipman, Ramona Trombley and Nicole Thomas.

Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with a short reception to follow at the Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Milbridge. Burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birch Harbor Baptist Church, care of Avery Chipman, P.O.
