CORINTH - It is with great sadness that the family of Allan Wayne Stymiest announces his passing on Wed. Oct.1, 2014 as the results of a tragic automobile accident. He was 46. Allan was born April 14, 1968 in Bangor to the proud parents of William and Carolyn (Wilson) Stymiest.
Allan grew up, attended schools and spent the best years of his life in Corinth surrounded by the family and friends that meant so much to him. His work ethic was strong. While attending high school he was employed at Tire Warehouse in Bangor. After leaving high school he joined the Labor Union, which took him to jobs all over the state of Maine. Later he took a job at his former father-in-laws company B.L. Grant and Sons in Corinth. He eventually started working for the Maine DOT as a heavy equipment mechanic.
Allan's heart and smile was as big as he was tall. The phrase "I can't" was not in his vocabulary. He would be the first to give the shirt off his back, the last dollar from his pocket, roll up his sleeves and lend a hand, and no matter what was going on in his day, he would always find the time to give words of praise and encouragement if he saw you were struggling. Allan was an avid outdoorsman making the most of what all four seasons had to offer. Brook fishing, bon-fires and grilling, hunting, and ice fishing. He wore a cross necklace which was testament to what he believed. He was not a materialistic man. What was most important to him were the things that money could not buy, family and friendship. Allan loved to laugh and was a kid at heart.
Allan will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his cherished daughter, Kaitlynn D. Stymiest, of Corinth; his mother and best friend, Carolyn L. Stymiest of Corinth; his beloved grandmother, Norma E."Gram" Wilson of Corinth. He also will be fondly remembered by his aunts; Barbara Boyce and her husband Ray of Cape Coral FL., Donna Ross and her companion, Doug of Corinth, Glenda McKenna and her husband, Ed of Hampden, Linda McKenna of Levant, Georgia McLain and her husband, Donnie of Newburgh, Evelyn Daniels of Levant and his Uncle Peter Stymiest and his wife, Sandy of Proctorville, OH. He will be dearly missed by his extended family of many cherished cousins and treasured friends. He also leaves behind his doggie sidekick, Wilma.
A very special mention to his cousin, Wes Spinney Jr., and his dear friend, David Nickerson. Over the last year they formed a bond of brotherly love. Allan had nicknames for them both. Wes was "Lil Bro" and David was "Brother Dave". Together we all knew and loved them as the "Rat Pack". Allan was predeceased by his father, William "Billy" "Sonny" Stymiest.
A private celebration of Allan's life will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Allan in a special way are asked to "pay it forward" by doing a good deed or helping someone who may be struggling. Expressions of condolence for the family may be left at www.kileyandfoley.com.
