PORTLAND - Alice M. Mahar, 89, passed away September 21, 2015, at a Portland health care facility. She was born May 19, 1926, in Perry, the daughter of Stephen B. and Louise E. (Pottle) Mahar.
Alice graduated from Shead High School in Eastport and Becker College in Worcester, Mass. She worked for the Army Air Force at the end of World War II and then went to work for Sealtest Ice Cream for 30 years. She was a member of the Perry Congregational Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Katherine L. Robinson; and brothers, Kenneth S. Mahar and Vade P. Mahar. She is survived by a brother, Charles Mahar of Green Valley, AZ; seven nephews and one niece.
Graveside services at Hibbard Cemetery in Perry will be announced at a later date. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor.
