FRANKLIN - Alice J. Carter, 82, died peacefully at home November 28, 2015, from lung cancer. She was born November 17, 1933, in Ellsworth. Her parents were Reginald F. and Esther (Burkhart) Johnson.
Alice graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 1951. In September 1954, she married Bruce Carter and moved to Franklin.
She was the Town Treasurer and Registrar of Voters for many years. She was a founding member of the Community Center Trustees and very proud of the Meeting Room. She was very active with the Town of Franklin. For over 20 years, she was Co-chair of Beano with Paul Giles. She ran the family small blueberry business. Then in the fall, she would be making wreaths and brushing. Alice loved going to 'her' camp. She was involved in her local family ancestry.
You could usually find Alice and Bruce at 5am for coffee at the Franklin Trading Post and then 11 am was lunch! Other than ice cream, Alice's true passion was the NE Patriots.
Alice is survived by husband, Bruce, of 61 years; son, Greg; daughter, Dawn and wife, Monica, all of Franklin; brothers, Harold Johnson of Ellsworth, John Johnson of Florida, and Henry Johnson of Surry; cousins, Steve and Joyce Fernald, Robert Fernald, all of Franklin; a few nieces and nephews, many sister-in-laws; and special friends, "Eddy" and "Oscar".
Thanks for the excellent care at the Mary Dow Center and the MCMH.
