Alfred's Story

CARIBOU - CARIBOU - Alfred Raymond Tompkins, (known to many as Al or Alfy), went home to be with the Lord September 22, 2015. He was born October 31, 1940, the son of Raymond and Rilla (Green) Tompkins in Summerfield, NB, Canada.

He came to Easton, Maine when he was 18 and worked at Valshing's Plant from 1958-1965 and then went into auto body work for Carroll's Auto, Ford Motor Co, and G&J Auto for many years. In 1981 he started his own shop, Tompkins Auto Body and retired in "2007". He was a faithful member of Christ Gospel Church of Presque Isle for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Paterson) Tompkins, one son, Michael Tompkins, two daughters, Michele and Marcy Tompkins all of Caribou, four grandchildren, Jessica (Dolly to Grandpa) Lozoway Tompkins, Rachel Levesque, Christina Berubee, Randy Levesque Jr, one great grandchild, Evan Hadfield, one brother, Arthur Tompkins of Eddington, two brother in laws, Rev. Roy Grant of NC, Warren Nye of Brampton, ON, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by nine wonderful sister in laws and two brother in laws, all of Canada.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Winnifred Grant and Frances Nye, and sister in law Ruth Tompkins, three brother in laws, Donald Paterson, Robert Watson, and Barry Barber.

Friends and family may call from 6-8pm on Friday, September 25, 2015 and Saturday September 26, from 1-2pm at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou, where a funeral service will be held at 2pm Revs. Gaylen and Marilyn Doody officiating. Committal services will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Caribou. A time of fellowship will follow committal services at the American Legion Hall in Caribou.
