Bradley - Alfred Joseph 'Butch' LeClair, 82, passed away unexpectedly due to complications from a stroke, surrounded by his family, January 2, 2017. He was born in Orono, November 13, 1934, the son of Joseph Alfred and Phoebe (St. Peter) LeClair.
Butch graduated from John Bapst High School, class of 1955. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps July 27, 1955, and was honorably discharged January 31, 1961. From there, Butch went on to be a successful entrepreneur for many years, until his retirement.
Butch had many passions in his life, most of which involved being in nature. He loved hiking, sailing and gardening - anything that took him into the great outdoors, regardless of the season. He was a finish carpenter who had a talent with woodworking. Butch was adventurous and constantly in motion. He was loyal to his family and would do anything for them, but with a witty sense of humor and a love of practical jokes.
In addition to his parents, Butch was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janet (White) LeClair; children, Debbie and husband, Tom, Brian, David and wife, Gail; step children, Darcy, Craig and wife, Lori, Leon, Gordon and wife, Belinda; grandchildren, Allison, Marissa, Ben, Aaron, Addam, Eric, Sarah; step grandchildren, Chris, Jackson, Rachael, Jake and Whitney; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Verda LeClair; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Family and friends are invited to call 5 -7 p.m., with Military Honors being performed by the US Marine Corps at 5:30, Friday, January 6, 2017, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Parish of the Resurrection, St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bradley. All are invited to a reception in the Parish Hall following the Mass for a time of refreshments and open sharing of memories.
