Alberta's Story

DEXTER - Alberta L. (Nye) Nelson, 86, passed away July 27, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 22, 1928, in Dover Hill, New Brunswick, Canada, the oldest daughter of Orlo and Margaret (Kennedy) Nye.

Alberta was married in 1947 to her beloved husband, Edward Nelson, who predeceased her in 1977, after 30 years of marriage.

"Bert" lived her life in both Corinna and Dexter, working and raising her children. She worked in the potato fields and at the Snowflake Canning Company, and she retired from Dexter Shoe Company in 1995. She and her husband owned and operated Nelson's Diner in Corinna for many years.

Alberta enjoyed baking, crocheting, and gardening, and she loved spending time with her family.

Alberta is survived by her children, Diana and her husband, Stanley Berube of Dexter; Ronnie Nelson of Corinna; and Reggie Nelson and his wife Paula of Carmel; her grandchildren, Sandra and her husband Bill Fletcher of Falmouth and Beaver Cove; Karen and her husband Adam Russell of Newport and Roger and Cheryl Berube of Azle, TX; great-grandchildren Katie, Anna and Grace Fletcher, Jamye, Steven, and Bridgitte Berube and Owen and Madelynn Russell; a sister Edith and her husband Rick Zajac of Newport; two brothers, Donnie Nye and his wife Mary of Corinna, and Gerald Nye of Hampden; a special sister-in-law, Diane Nye of Corinna; and many good friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at the Corinna Village Cemetery in Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
