VAN BUREN - Albert J. Morrow, 89, died peacefully Sunday, May 8, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Albert fought a short and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer while a resident at Country Village Estates. He was born September 23, 1926 in Hamlin, the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Doucette) Morrow.
Albert was a World War II Veteran who served in the Army Air Forces as an airplane mechanic. He safely returned home to marry and raise six children and successively operated Morrow's Radio & TV Shop, Van Buren. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church. He was a volunteer firefighter in Van Buren, was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Assembly, Van Buren ATV Club and a life member and past officer of American Legion, Post #49, Van Buren. During his youth, he enjoyed flying with his brother Armand. He engaged in many leisure activities at the Morrow family farm in Hamlin. During his retirement, he continued to enjoy various sports such as: golfing, bowling, snowmobiling, four wheeling, hunting and fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was playing penny poker with family at Long Lake Cove.
He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Alice (Laplante) Morrow of Van Buren;
three sons, Carl Morrow and his wife Karen and Wayne Morrow, all of Van Buren, and Joseph Morrow of Grand Isle; three daughters, Nancy Morrow of Van Buren, Diane Cyr and her husband John of Ellsworth and Anna Blow of Bartlett, TN; two siblings, Lorette Groote of Colorado and Richard Morrow of Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Sheri Morrow, Toby Morrow and his wife Amy, Lori Joseph and her husband Jeffrey, Christopher Cyr, Danielle Cyr, Ashli Blow, Lauren Blow and her fiancé Matt; eight great grandchildren, Claire, Carly, Madelynn, Max, Sophie, and Michael Morrow, and Jahleel Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Albert is predeceased by seven sisters, Celia, Janet, Sadie, Annie, Rita, Aurore, and Cecile, and three brothers, Armand, Larry and Renie
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday morning 9:30-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
