ROYAL PALM BEACH, FLA - Albert J. Lozier, 84, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, retired Deacon of the Archdiocese of Hartford and former Bristol, CT, resident, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Hospice of Palm Beach County. Albert was born in Fort Kent, ME on May 23, 1930, and was a son of the late Maxime and Louise (Coulombe) Lozier.
He was raised and lived in Fort Kent where he served in the Maine National Guard. He moved to Bristol in 1950, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he saw overseas duty in Germany. He worked for the former New Departure division of General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1989 and was then a beloved part-time fixture at George's Terryville Avenue Market for many years. Al was ordained a Deacon in 1986 by Archbishop John Whealon and went on to serve St. Anne Parish in Bristol for 19 years. He was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, and of the American Legion Seicheprey Post 2 in Bristol.
Al is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Francine and Thomas Galdos of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, daughter, Elisabeth Booth of Trumbull, Connecticut, Marc Lozier of Keller, Texas, and their mother Suzanne. He is also survived by his brothers, Leo and Gilbert Lozier of Bristol, Patrick Lozier and his wife, Gert of Windsor and his sisters, Doris Cyr and her husband, Lionel of Avon, and Leonie Lozier of Bristol, along with several nieces and nephews and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Edgar, Romeo, Juliette and Laurette Lozier and Irene Violette.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, at 10 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave, Bristol, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2015, between 5 and 8 PM with the Office of the Dead held at 6:30 PM.
