Alan's Story

PRESQUE ISLE - Alan A. Hancock, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday night, Feb. 17, 2015, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born on Sept. 15, 1934, in Berlin, NH, the son of Lewis and Arline (Hamlin) Hancock.

He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 2nd Class. He worked several years as a long haul truck driver than as a traffic manager at Aroostook Beverage in Presque Isle. Alan was a faithful and devoted music listener at Camper's Paradise in Westfield. He had a great fondness for dogs, and every dog he met, liked him.

He is survived by his wife, Jackolyn "Jackie" (Pelletier) Hancock of Presque Isle; three sons and their wives, Michael Lewis and Barbara of Huntingdon Valley, PA, Robert Alan and Holly of Limestone and Timothy Scott and Lynn of Skowhegan; two daughters and their husbands, Penny Sue and Curtis Ballard of Fryeburg, and Jennifer Jo and Michael Tubber of Old Town; a sister, Mary Hews of Ashland; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Pastor Nathan Gardiner officiating. Friends may call at 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Spring interment with military honors will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
