HARMONY AND DOVER-FOXCROFT - Ada Foss Cobb, 90, passed away August 26, 2014, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born November 22, 1923, the fourth of five daughters to Roy and Alteen Hatch Foss.

She graduated from Harmony High School Class of 1940. Ada married Glenwood "Nubby" Cobb July 3, 1942. She worked in Guilford at the toothpick factory as well as the Bangor Daily News, local shoe factories, and retired from Farrin Bros. & Smith as a bookkeeper.

Ada lived most of her life in Harmony except for a short time in Portland when she and Nubby were first married. The past three years, she has been a resident at Main Street West and Hibbard's Nursing Home. Prior to this, Ada was fortunate to make her home with her sisters for many years following Nubby's death.

Ada was involved in many organizations over the years including The Extension, Rebekahs, PTA, and helping with the Labor Day Fair. She was very active and known as "The Walker" around Harmony for 25 years. After she was diagnosed with osteoporosis, the doctor told her to walk-and she did, several miles faithfully each day no matter the weather.

She enjoyed her home, yard, flowers, crocheting, and writing short stories and poetry. In 1996, she compiled her stories into a book titled, "Together", which she had published. More than anything else she enjoyed time spent with her family.

Ada was predeceased by her parents; husband of 54 years; and three sisters, Louise Ernest, Barbara Herrick, and Myrtie Farrin. She is survived by her sister, Norma Littlefield; two children, Reggie Cobb and his wife Ann Marie, and Cindi Annis and her husband, Donald; four grandchildren, Tasha Mellett and her husband, Jim, Trevin Cobb and his wife, Kristen, Glenn Annis and his wife, Jody, and Ryan Annis and his wife, Hannah; seven great grandchildren whom she affectionately referred to as her "little honeybees" and in return she was nicknamed "Old Ade" by some, Cole and Anaise Mellett, Dylan and Cecile Cobb, Julia and Jillian Annis, and Laura Annis; several nieces and nephews; friends, Barbara Carr Herrick, Beverly Folsom; and friend and neighbor Norma Giovannucci who watched out for her at 26 Chadbourne Road.

Ada's family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Hibbard's Nursing Home, Dr. McDermott, and Community Health and Counseling for the outstanding care and attention they gave to their mother.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11am Friday, August 29, 2014, at Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony, with Rev. Henry Thibodaux officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harmony Fire Department in care of Onie Lougee, P.O. Box 3, Harmony, Maine 04942. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
