The love of my life passed away today.
- William Frederick Simpson, 77, passed away peacefully Feb. 2, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born March 22, 1939, in Bangor, the son of Frederick and Marjorie Simpson.
Bill was raised and resided in his family home in Brewer. He is a 1959 graduate of Brewer High School. Bill served in the Army Reserve from 1961 to 1967. He also worked at Eastern Fine Paper in Brewer until his retirement in 2003. Bill enjoyed time with his family, a good crossword puzzle and long walks with his beloved dog, Hanna-May. Bill and Bev would sit on their back deck prepared with a hello for the neighbors and treats for each dog as they made their way up Jefferson Street.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Beverly Ann (Barker) Simpson; his sons, Frederick Simpson and wife, Carline of Corinna, Michael Ireland and wife, Janis of Brewer, and David Ireland of Newport; daughters, Nancy Harnish and husband, Ronnie of Winterport and Patty Albert and husband, Allen of Bangor; granddaughters, Katie Simpson and wife, Suzanne of Pittsfield, Katherine Simpson and partner, Sam Lane of Corinna, Kristine Sylvester and husband, Craig of Newport, Nicole Bell and husband, Luke of Stetson, Angela Ordway and husband, Nate of Levant, Laura Donahue and husband of Palmyra, Jennie Zimmerman and husband, Jim of Dixmont; grandsons, Terry Ashlock and wife, Carrissa of Yakima, Washington, Ryan Albert of Orrington and Chris Ireland and wife, Katie of Corinna; cousins, Everett Simpson of Corinna, Bobby Dempsey of Otis (Florida), Craig Dempsey of Bangor. Bill is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; brother, David Simpson; sisters, Carol Gass and Sally Wain.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses of the 5th floor at EMMC for all you did to care for and comfort Bill in his last days.
Bill's wishes are that there will be no funeral services. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life that is being held in Brewer at The Coach House Restaurant on February 12, 2017, from 4 to 6pm. Refreshments served. Bring memories and photos with a smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Humane Society.
