- William R. McHale, 80, died February 21, 2018, at a local hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 24, 1937, in Bangor, the son of Arthur and Teresa (Murphy) McHale.
Bill was a graduate of John Bapst High School, class of 1955. Following graduation, he joined the Maine Air National Guard, retiring in October 1993 with the rank of SMSGT. He was a member of the Penobscot County Conservation Club, and was a great lover of the outdoors, especially fishing at East Grand Lake. Bill will be remembered as a very generous and loyal friend.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Douglas R. Powell. Surviving are his sister, Katherine P. (McHale) Powell of Fort Walton Beach, FL; one aunt, Winnifred E. Murphy of Holden; numerous cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal with military honors at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception in the church hall following the services.
