FRANKLIN - William Webster MacCulloch, 78, of Franklin, Maine passed away on 24 August 2015. Bill was born on 6 June 1937 in Hamilton, MA, the son of Gordon Roscoe MacCulloch and Dorothy Aull MacCulloch of Salem, MA.

Bill was the younger of 2 sons (older brother Robert G. MacCulloch, d1979); he graduated from Salem High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Marine and Electrical Engineering in 1960.

Bill was a devoted United States Merchant Marine and traveled the world in service of his country. He worked as a Service Engineer for Aqua Chem in WI, NJ and CT and started his own business as a Maritime Equipment Manufacturer's Representative working out of Salem, MA and Peterborough, NH. His maritime experiences spanned from wartime tragedy in the Persian Gulf War to the discovery of the Titanic in 1985 with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in MA. Also in the 1980's Bill, in partnership with 3 generations of MacCulloch's, including his father and son, started an exotic hardwood lumber business in Antrim, NH. LumberMac was a successful artisan's hardwood business specializing in rare woods from around the world.

Bill is survived by his wife Joan Bancroft originally from Swampscott, MA, they just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary; his daughter Heather Marie Nuesslien, her husband Lawrence Adam Nuesslein, and their children Adam, Ian and Zebulon of Bar Harbor, ME; his daughter Bonnie Jean MacCulloch, her husband W. Gregory Shriver and their son Henry of Landenberg, PA, grandchildren Nicholas Ashby and Kincaid Scot MacCulloch of Bar Harbor and Robin MacCulloch Elsen and Robert MacCulloch Jr.-his niece and nephew. He is predeceased by his son Michael Scot MacCulloch who passed away on 31 July 2014, his brother Robert Gordon MacCulloch and his parents Gordon and Dorothy MacCulloch.
