- William 'Bill' Hover, born July 18, 1944, of Alton, ME, passed away on Oct. 1, 2017, at age 73. He was born in Schenectary, NY, to the late Harry and Helen Hover.
Bill served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He moved to Maine in the late 1970s, enrolled in a welding course and worked for Snow and Nealley, and worked over 25 years for Peavey MGT. Bill enjoyed working for the Buswell family. He also taught Hunter Safety courses for two years, and served as a Selectman for the town of Alton. Bill met Sandy Nickless on March 22,1978, (he always celebrated this date as our Anniversary), and he married his best friend Sandy on July 4, 1988, because it was a holiday he felt he would not forget, but did two or three times, but never forgot March 22.
Bill was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by wife Sandy, a recent found niece Lynda Brown of Ft. Worth, TX, and many other nieces and nephews. He will sadly missed by "adopted family" Sharlene Martin his sister-in-law, Ronald and Marie Fuller his sister-in-law, and their families. Ann and Stan Chase, Scott Nealley and Kim Patterson. Bill appreciated our neighbors who were always available in time of need, Walter and Delores Eugley, Herbert, Stephanie, Courtney, and Colby Spencer, Mark, Karen, Caleb and Roy Koneff. Bless you all.
No services are planned by request of Bill. It was requested to "pay it forward" for a needy family or person (senior preferred) in need. And give a smile to a stranger to help them though maybe a difficult day.
