William Curran

Old Town OLD TOWN - William "Bill" Henry Curran, 81, passed away August 4, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Bill was born in Old Town January 19, 1934, the son of Raymond and Rose (Haley) Curran.

Bill graduated from Old Town High School in 1952, upon graduating he enlisted in the Navy where he was active for four years. He came back to Old Town and worked in the Woolen Mill in town, then went to work for the post office for 25 years where he retired from in 1987. Once he was retired, he got a part time job working for the Bangor Daily News which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Bill loved to go fishing, hunting, taking the kids on the "back roads of Maine," loved going to the coast, and going to camp out to Boyd Lake; he was a devoted catholic and was a fourth degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Bill was also a jack of all trades, and his motto was, "if it wasn't broke, fix it anyway!"

Bill is survived by his loving wife Helen (Harris) Curran, their children; Dan Curran and his wife Linda, Jim Curran and his wife Lisa, Tom Curran and his wife Lori, Mary Nichols and husband Jeff, Linda Thurlow and husband Bob, Patricia Roy and husband Dan, Susan Curran, Helen Curran and husband Arthur Meether, Irene Curran and Husband David Spence; grandchildren, Christopher Curtis, Olivia and Declan Curran, Cassie Nichols, Billy Nichols and wife Rachel, Alexandria and Elijah Thurlow, Drew, Samuel and Christopher Roy, Aaron, Billy, Reanne, Maxx Meether, Noah Spence; great grandchildren, Lilith and Audrey Nichols; sister, Sheila Curran; special friends, Ronny and Ruby Pellitier, Florence and Ovila Arsenault, Lorraine Griffin, Kelly Paradis, Jessica Sargent, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Mary Curran, and his brother Patrick Curran.

Friends may call from 4-7pm Thursday, August 6, at Birmingham Funeral home 438 Main St. Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Friday August 7, at the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord Holy family Parish 429 Main. St. Old Town.
