Our world may be dimmer without Bill's light but the stars are brighter because of his arrival. Bill and his solid presence will be sorely, deeply missed. A man of true character and dignity and a loyal friend. He was the first resident to welcome me at Dirigo Pines way back in 2009 and his door was always open for interesting discussion. My sincere condolences to his loving family.

Uncle Bill was a wonderful man and I will cherish the many fond memories I have of him. I was my wife's second husband and she had a 4 year old daughter when we married. I have been constantly thankful for the words of wisdom he gave me at our wedding about how to make the whole situation work.

Bill was a special friend to so many. I am so appreciative that I had the opportunity to know such a great and inspirational man, if only for a few short years. His generosity of spirit and life lessons will be missed. To all of the family- my thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Bill became my friend less than three short years ago. And in that short span of time he taught me so much. We talked on trips to his appointments. We talked over coffee at Tim Hortons. We talked about anything and everything. As a WW Two veteran, he gave me insight into my own Dad's service. He showed me how to live a full life... and he showed me how to handle life's final journey with strength and dignity. I will miss you, Bill. Thank-you for being my friend. And to Bill's family, thanks for sharing him with the rest of us.

Bill and Edith Anderson remain among my favorite Castine memories. I always looked forward to spending time in their company. I send their family my deepest condolences but I am also rejoicing that you were all one big happy family for so long. Bill’s life was exemplary.

I work at Dirigo Pines, and Bill was by far one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was kind and thoughtful of all the staff. He loved his family! Lol, it was great talking to him about everyday goings on because he could relate it to his own experiences. Bill has got to be one of the strongest and bravest residents we have had at Dirigo Pines, and one we will miss the most. I think the biggest reason I love Bill was that he was a fighter. That man fought for every moment, and never gave up. My respect to you, Bill, and my love.
