I am his eldest child ..I am so glad I moved back to this area a year ago to be by his side as he faced several health issues.. and have him at my side for his last journey . I got to know him more tenderly..to tell him several times a day how much I loved Him as well as hear him return that love. To see him with His siblings..and our family.. to hear him laugh..and just feel him.. Thank you Dad for those days..and all those before.. I love and miss you dearly

Hi Dad,
It's been hard to come up with words, so I'll use memories. When I go hunting, I think of you. When I work in the garden, I think of you. When I go bowling, camping, to the races, I think of you. But mostly fishing, because I'll be fishing with you.
Thinking of you

My Grandfather passed away on the 1st of this year. He had been sick and we all knew the time would come sooner then later. Not that it changes how hard it is to lose a loved one.

In our younger years he was always the best. Letting us play in the back yard for hours. Or raiding the garden and snacking on the pea's or green beans. He taught us so many things.

Even though we had not been super close for the last 20 years. Mostly due to living so far apart. He was always so loving and caring when we would talk. He would always want to know how the kids were, or how Krisdee's schooling was going. You could tell he was proud of the life we had created here in Utah. Of our family and the accomp
...lishments of his great grandchildren.

We were able to travel back east in August. A family vacation that allowed us to see him. While he was healthy and in good spirits. A version of him that I'm glad my kids were able to have as their last memory of him. One that I'm glad to have as my last memory of him.

His last gift to us will be another trip to Maine in February. Where we get to celebrate the life of a great man. With his many friends and our loving family. Some of which we did not see on the last trip. Family is everything, thanks for instilling that in us, and giving us this chance to come together.

I read this quote the other day. It felt fitting for this giant of a man who has passed on;

I fall asleep in the full and certain hope
That my slumber shall not be broken;
And that, though I be all-forgetting,
Yet shall I not be all-forgotten,
But continue that life in the thoughts and deeds
of those I have loved.
