- Vernon Farmer, 79, passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2018, surrounded by his twin daughters at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Farmer, as called by many, was born on May 23, 1938, in Walterboro, South Carolina, the son of the late Arthur and Alma Farmer.
Farmer joined the Army at a young age until he found his true calling and passion as a truck driver. He will be forever known as a trucking legend. His name will live on from Maine to California. Farmer had a great love for all people and would have given the shirt off his back or his last penny to help a stranger. His huge heart will be missed by all.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, Clarence, Julius, and Leroy. He is survived by his twin daughters, Fayelynn Farmer and Desiree Watson and her husband, John; his loving companion, Lillian Cleaves-Mahaney, and children; sisters, Mammie Waller and her husband, Bob, Betty Tenner and her husband, Joe, and Elizabeth Fields, sister-in-law, Henrietta Farmer, as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Pine Grove Crematorium and Remembrace Center, 1347 Hammond Street, Bangor, with Rev. Grace Bartlett officiating. Condolences may be expressed at www.Memorial-Alternatives.com
