FORT FAIRFIELD - Valere F. Beaulieu, 78, husband of the late Juanita W. (Wilcox) Beaulieu, passed away Monday morning August 11, 2014 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 15, 1936 in Fort Kent, the son of Alfred V. and Pauline M. (Soucy) Beaulieu. Having moved to Fort Fairfield at the age of 2, Valere attended Fort Fairfield schools and served with the Maine National Guard from 1953 to 1984. He worked for C.A. Powers Farms, Fort Fairfield during the 1960's and had also been employed by the Fort Fairfield Highway Department for over 20 years. Valere also served on the Fort Fairfield Fire Department and
Ambulance Service for 24 years, as well as serving as a part-time police officer. Mr. Beaulieu was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Fort Fairfield, the American Legion, Walter Lovely Post Number 27, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council Number 1753, Fort Fairfield. Valere was an outgoing people person who enjoyed storytelling and riding the roads of Aroostook County. He enjoyed cooking, and the outdoors, especially hunting. In addition to his parents, Valere was predeceased by his wife Juanita on April 17, 2013; five brothers, David, Sylvio, Romeo, Lawrence and Philip Beaulieu; two sisters, Rita Voisine and Anita Saucier. He is survived by four sons, Jeff A. Beaulieu of Presque Isle, Robert F. Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield, Michael J. Beaulieu of Presque Isle, Dale Beaulieu and his wife Stephanie of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Lisa Campbell of Fort Fairfield; three stepsons, Rodney L. McIntyre and his wife Lynn of Brewer, Robert K. McIntyre and his wife Debra of Forks, WA, Ronald B. "Mac" McIntyre and his wife Bonnie of Hermon; two stepdaughters, Sharon Chamberland and her husband Leo Paul, Carol A. Williams and her husband Steven, all of Mapleton; 4 grandchildren, Allison Tysinger and her husband Michael of Titusville, FL, Andrea Beaulieu of Presque Isle, Sarah Beaulieu and Amanda Campbell, both of Fort Fairfield; several step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Logan. Friends may call Friday August 15, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday August 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment with military honors will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the interment service.
