- Mrs. Thérèse Precille Roy Gott, 74, left this life at her home in Franklin, ME, on Monday, November 20 after a brief struggle with a difficult illness. She was born in Biddeford, ME on June 17, 1943, the second child of Marie-Jeanne Dubé and Leo Roy.
Thérèse attended St. Andre's School and Church and at the age of 17 joined the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary where she served her faith for 12 years. She left the community and worked for 9 years at the Saco Tanning Co. after which she joined the Sisters of Charity in Baltic, CT where she served for two years. Exiting the community, she met her husband Philip P. Gott, whom she married on October 17, 1980 and spent almost 21 years with until his passing at the end of September, 2001; they were blessed with a son, Roy Damien Gott.
Thérèse was a tireless worker and a loyal friend to many. She continued her service to her faith at St. Joseph's Church in Ellsworth, ME and volunteered her time at the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry for several years. She worked with Philip in every aspect of their livelihoods, installing utility poles, running a tree farm, and maintaining and operating apartments. She spent 9 years as an associate at Walmart until her retirement in 2010, and from Roy's graduation from college in 2004 until 2016 she gave untold hours helping her him in the renovation of his future home, also in Franklin. In her final years, she volunteered as she was able with Friends in Action.
Thérèse is survived by her son and his dear wife Ana-Maria, her dear brother and sister Raymond Roy of Biddeford, and Rita Thibodeau of Franklin, 4 nephews and their wives, three nieces and their husbands, one special uncle Robert Dubé, two aunts, special friends Rita and Lorraine, and many more.
