- Stuart Rand, 76, of Island Falls, ME/Winter Haven, FL passed away peacefully at his Florida home with his family by his side on January 19, 2018. Stuart was born October 4, 1941 in Island Falls, ME and is the son of the late Beverly and Cora (Stevens) Rand.
Stuart graduated from Sherman High School in 1960 and won many awards with his prize Holstein cows. During his senior year he won Star State Farmer/Future Farmers of America award. He attended MCI then went on to graduate from UMO with a degree in Agriculture. After returning home he ran the family farm, Randmere Farms, on Golden Ridge in Sherman until 1982 when he started his own trucking company. In his semi-retired years he drove for Katahdin Forest Products. He was very community minded serving as a selectman, volunteer fireman, Sherman Rec Committee, Molunkus Valley Sno-Drifters member, Sherman Old Home Days volunteer, Sherman chapter of Eastern Star member, Washburn Memorial Church, Molunkus Valley Mason, and the Winter Haven Shuffleboard Club.
He is survived by his wife Jane (Grant) Rand. Twin sisters; Beth Rand and Betty Rand and companion George Dubois. Children; Anna Robinson and husband Harold, Becki, Scott and Eddie and their mother Dottie Rand. Eleven grandchildren; Dorianna, Katie, Travis, Kirby, Zachary, Jordan, Madison, Cora, Jenna, Erin and Seth. Five great-grandchildren; Dillan, Liam, Charles, Harlyn and Waylon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his good hunting buddy Phil Sherman. His pets Neddy and Buffy will sadly miss him.
A service will be held at a later date in the Spring in Sherman. Donations in his memory may be given to a charity of ones choice.
