- Sidney A. Ritchie, Jr., 66, died on November 16, 2017, at a Pittsfield hospital following a long battle with cancer. Sid was born September 26, 1951, in Hartland, a son of Sidney and Beatrice (Morse) Ritchie, Sr.
He graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1969. Sid served in the Army National Guard for five years. He was a mechanic by trade working at Muffler King, Ludden's Auto Repair, and C. M. Norris Auto Repair, all of Newport. Nascar racing was his passion. He also raced personally at Speedway 95 and Unity Raceway. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and in later years, sitting by a campfire on his beloved Lake Sebasticook.
He is survived by a son, Justin, his wife, Annely, and their son, Jase, all of Palmyra; Justin's mother and the love of Sid's life, Brenda Norris of Newport; and two other children, Shannon Gilreath of Carmel and Craig Ritchie of Texas; a sister, Evelyn Barker of Orange City, FL; four additional grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced. Rev. Brian Woodbury will officiate. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com
