Shirley's Story

BUCKSPORT - Shirley J. Roth, 79, cherished wife, sister, auntie, great auntie and great-great auntie lost her courageous battle with ALS on June 11, 2014 in the loving presence of her family, passing into Gods hands and eternal life. Shirley was born on March 9, 1935 in San Diego, California moving in later years to Texas and retiring in Bucksport Maine in 2001. Shirley was an accomplished designer and artist sharing her talents professionally and personally in California, Texas and Maine. Shirl touched so many lives, her kindness, always helping others. Shirl's joy and excitement for life was contagious to all around her as was her fabulous sense of humor. Shirley, for 79 years was committed to family and helped weave the fabric that held the family always together and strong.

Shirley is survived by her devoted husband David Roth of Bucksport, ME stepdaughter Michelle Rittenour and husband Chris, step granddaughter Kaitlyn of Corinth, TX, Sister Sheila Lynn Boyle and husband Ronald of Addison, ME. Nephew Robert A. Silvera and partner Dani Fleece of Brandon, SD, great auntie of Alaine Silvera of Sioux Falls SD, Nephew Kyle Joseph Silvera of Sosua, Dominican Republic and family friend Nadia Casey, great auntie of Renae and Victoria Silvera. Great-great auntie to Jace Silvera, Nephew Paul Scott Silvera and partner Todd Shultz of San Diego, CA, Niece Erin Katherine Leland and husband TJ of Buxton, ME, Cousin Joseph Sharp of Olympia, WA. Special life friends Gail Dowling of Sterling Virginia and Barbara Hannel of San Diego, CA.

A special thank you and gratitude for superb care and caring to Ellsworth Family Practice, ICU staff and Palliative Care Team at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

A Chapel Service will be held at noon Monday July 7, 2014 at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mount Vernon Ave Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services Bucksport. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
