Shirley E. McAdam

Shirley's Story

Text size

East Millinocket - Shirley's journey began on July 3, 1945, in Millinocket, born to Bill and Lucy (Burleigh) Dempsey.
She married her soul mate, Gene McAdam, on December 7, 1985, and they enjoyed many years attending concerts, camping, playing board games-cards, stacking wood and simply enjoying each other's company.
As her Alzheimer's progressed she and Gene spent countless hours watching the Walton's, Little House on the Prairie and any music channel he could find. They rarely missed the Tuesday night Country Jam at the Sno Rover's where they danced all evening with family and friends.
Her children are grateful for their strict and orderly upbringing. Respectfully speaking one's mind, accountability and the value of a savings account and budgeting will be forever instilled in their minds.
Her meatballs, whoopie pies and date filled cookies will be missed by many.
Shirley is survived by her husband; children, BJ (Jim) Dumoulin, Billy Voisine and Katherine;step-son, Rich and Amy; and sister, Linda Pelkey.
The family would like to extend thanks to the caregivers at Westgate Manor for providing compassionate care.
To honor Shirley's memory play some Johnny Cash, George Jones or better yet, the Rolling Stones.
Friends are invited to visit with family from 9:30-11 am on December 31 at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, with funeral services immediately following. Join us for lunch at St. Peter's Parish, East Millinocket following the funeral service.
Gifts in memory of Shirley may be made to Eastern Agency on Aging, 450 Essex St., Bangor. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
