Sheldon's Story

JONESBORO - Sheldon M. Scott, 83, died peacefully in his sleep on May 5, 2016 in Machias. He was born in Centerville, ME Oct. 30, 1932 the son of the late Walter Sr. and Mary (Foster) Scott.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked over the years on many construction jobs, but his favorite job was clamming. He also lobster fished, and worked as a janitor at Ultra Power in Jonesboro. Along with his wife Mary, he enjoyed going to dances every Saturday night for many years. Together they also spent a lot of time at their camp on the river in Jonesboro. He enjoyed fishing with his brother Vernon, and loved pug dogs as companions in his later years.

He is survived by a daughter, Alta Smith and companion Toby Bryant; a son, Sheldon R. Scott of Limerick; sisters, Gloria Schreiber and husband Duane of Pueblo West, CO, Eva Warren and husband Jerry of Waterville, Everett Scott and wife Beverly of Hanford, CA, Vernon Scott and wife Gail of Columbia Falls; a special nephew, Danny Scott; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held 2 pm Saturday May 14, 2016 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Jonesboro.
