- Scott P. Dorrity, 32, died on January 8, 2017 in Bangor. He was born in Bangor on October 25, 1985, the son of William H. and Julie (Rogers) Dorrity. Scott was a beloved and devoted son, grandson, nephew, brother, and uncle, and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him. Scott was especially compassionate, caring for his father during the last two years of his illness, and being a strong support to his mom always.
Scott took special pride in being an uncle to his nephews, Thomas Dorrity and Jude Taylor, and niece, Emma Dorrity.
In addition to his mom, Scott is survived by his grandmother, Mary Maddocks of Ellsworth, grandmother, Joyce Mayer and grandfather, William Dorrity, both of Winterport; sister, Heidi Taylor and her husband, James of Rockland, sister Allyson of Bangor, and brother Tommy and his wife Petra of Hampden; uncle, Jeff Rogers of Ellsworth, aunt, Carolyn Dorrity and uncle, Jay Muth of Winterport; cousins, Jamie Cotnoir, Meagan Rogers, Ashley Cope, Casey Dorrity and Zach Dorrity; and fellow Patriots and Red Sox fan, Jack Forni of Ellsworth. Scott was predeceased by his father, William Dorrity, and his uncle, John Rogers.
A private family gathering will be held on January 20 at the family home in Winterport to share memories and commemorate Scott's life. He was a great lover of the outdoors and animals. At times like this it is hard to know how to help out, but for those wishing to pay special tribute to Scott, please consider sending a donation in his memory to Birdsacre/Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary, PO Box 485, Ellsworth, ME 04605, as this was a special place for him and his family.
