Sarah Taylor

Presque Isle - Sarah Taylor passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2019, after a recent illness. She was born on April 1, 1928, to John and Hazel (Briggs) Murphy in Littleton, Maine.
Sarah lived most of her early years in New Limerick, ME on her parents' farm. She attended New Limerick schools and spent her freshman and sophomore years at Ricker High School and junior and senior years at Hodgdon High School where she graduated in 1946.
After high school, Sarah taught elementary school briefly and then worked at Larry's Auto in Houlton. During that time, she started dating Robert (Bob) Taylor. They married in 1952. For several years they moved around a lot as Roberts's job at the telephone company required him to service different parts of New England. In the early 1960s, they settled in Presque Isle where they raised their two daughters.
Sarah was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of State Street Baptist Church where she served on the mission committee as well as hospitality committee for many years. In later years, Sarah and Bob attended Faith Baptist in Blaine, ME.
Sarah was predeceased by her parents, John and Hazel Murphy and by her older sister, Mary Louise (Murphy) Gove.
She is survived by Robert Leigh Taylor her loving husband of 66 years; daughters, Beth (Taylor) Andreasen and her husband, David, of South Portland, ME, and Jody (Taylor) Watkins and her husband, Peter, of Rensselaer, IN; and two grandchildren, Daniel Andreasen and Rachel Andreasen, both of Portland, ME; and her sister, Margaret (Murphy) Graham of Houlton, ME.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019, with a reception to follow at the Duncan-Graves Funeral home, Presque Isle. Interment will be this spring at Fairmont Cemetery.
