- Sadie Shaw Danforth, 102, passed away January 15, 2017, in Bangor. Sadie was born in Bangor on March 25, 1914.
Sadie attended schools in Belfast, graduating from Crosby High School in 1931. She stated nurses training until she contracted TB at which time she studied X-ray and Lab, worked for Dr. Earl Bubar for many years. Sadie married her soul mate, Norman "Dan" Danforth in 1943. They spent many years living in the Bucksport area, and then split their time between Bucksport and Clearwater, FL, upon retirement in 1965.
Sadie is survived by her nephews, Robert Meddings of Georgia, William Meddings of Florida and Ralph Nason of Unity, her niece, Barbara Lawrence of Hampden, granddaughters Debbie Haas and Norma Schlitter, grandson; Billy Danforth, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and several great nieces and nephews. Sadie is also survived by good friends; Richard and BJ Banton, Polly Bayer-Lally, Max Goode, and Lynn Robertson. She was predeceased by her husband, Dan, stepson; Norman Danforth Jr., her mother; Albina Polik Shaw, her sisters; Nina, Leila and Evelyn and her brother; Ernest.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 10, 2017, at Riverview Cemetery in Bucksport. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
