Ruth's Story

CORNVILLE - Ruth M. (Smith) Doble, 96, of Cornville and formerly of Bangor, died peacefully Wednesday December 17, 2014 at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, with her family saying their goodbyes.

She was born August 8, 1918 in Carmel, Maine, the daughter of George F. and Esther (Hardy) Smith. Ruth worked and retired from the Bangor Public Library. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Brewer for many years. Ruth still enjoyed crocheting, knitting, her flower beds, and quilting.

She is survived by her two sons and their families; Kendall and Karen Doble of Conyers, GA, Larry and Laura Doble of Steuben, her grandchildren; Chris and Pam Doble of Cornville, Terri Campos of VA, David Doble of GA, Kendall Doble III of GA, Sara Towle of N. Waterboro, Brian Doble of Steuben, Katie Doble of Steuben and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Helen Poland of AL, a brother in-law Ralph Doble of Bangor and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Kendall, brothers; George, Gladwin, Martin, Rodney and one sister Marian.

A Graveside will be held in the spring at the Highlands Cemetery in Carmel.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
