OLD TOWN - Rosemary Bickmore Canney, 69, passed away on April 17, 2015. She was the youngest of six children of Wendell and Avaline (Lovejoy) Bickmore; and the wife of Ralph Canney for 52 years.

Rosemary was an English teacher at Old Town High School for 32 years, during which she also directed 17 musicals, advised a dozen yearbooks, and was for a time National Honor Society advisor. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maine.

Her passion was travel, and for the past seven winters she and Ralph lived in Rome, Paris, Dublin, Shannon, the French Riviera, and the Baja Peninsula. On top of that, she and their close friend Jackie Hill took trips to Scotland, The Isle of Capri, and Brittany as well as two trips with her sisters. After retirement, she also worked for Pearson, scoring SAT essays, and authored two books - In the Parking Lot at Grady High and The Substitute.

Rosemary was blessed with two loving, caring children, Crystal and Scott and their spouses, as well as two grandchildren who, according to her, were the smartest, bravest, most talented children in the universe: Alex Canney and Avalena Linsky. She is also survived by four siblings, Ray Bickmore of Charleston and Tim Bickmore of Corinth, along with two sisters, Joan Blackwell and her spouse, and Janice Cynewski and her spouse of Corinth; and many cousins and nieces and nephews. She was also fortunate to have several wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Albert Bickmore.
