MILLINOCKET & PORTAGE LAKE - Roger Joseph Garrity, 80, passed away Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Millinocket Regional Hospital after a long illness with family and friends at his side. He was born February 11, 1935 in Portage Lake, the youngest child of Albert and Roseann (Soucy) Garrity

Roger attended schools in Portage Lake, St. Agatha, Ashland and Houlton before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1952 at the age of 17. He served 3 years in Germany after basic training. After his honorable discharge in 1956, he returned home where shortly thereafter he began dating and eventually marrying his loving wife of 60 years, Corinna Beaulier Garrity. Roger and Corinna made their home in Ashland, Maine where they raised their five children. He worked in the logging industry for his father and Great Northern Paper Co. before eventually owning and operating several businesses in Ashland and Presque Isle. Later in life, Roger and Corinna made their home in Millinocket, Maine where they currently resided at the time of his death.

Roger will be remembered by many "buddies" at the Elk's Lodge in Millinocket as a great cribbage player who won more games than they cared to count!

Roger is survived by his wife Corinna, four of his children, Angela and her husband Gib Gagnon of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Lori McMillon and her partner Rene St. Peter of Caribou, Maine, Joseph Garrity and his wife Beverly of Pawley's Island, S. Carolina, and Kathryn and her husband Aubrey Stevens of Peachtree City, GA, 11 grandchildren Nicole and Olivia Gagnon, Erika (Tim) East, Liam McMillon, Kate (Adam) Dukes, Rhyne and Abby Garrity, Jacob, Bryce, Brandon and Austyn Stevens, and four great-grandchildren Logan and Ryder East, Nash and Keller Dukes. Roger is also survived by his sister Hazel and her husband Raymond Bushey of Portage Lake, ME, his sister-in-law Anna Garrity of Bristol, CT and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Roger was predeceased by his son James Garrity, his parents Albert and Roseann Garrity, his sisters, Geneva Garrity Morin and Ruth Garrity Pelletier, his brother Albert Garrity, Jr and his mother and father-in law William and Jessie Beaulier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Portage. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 9?10:45 AM at the church. Spring interment will be in the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery.
