Roberta's Story

Text size

East Millinocket - Roberta Rose (Vandine) Snowman, 76, returned home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 20th, 2017. Born October 6th, 1940, to Hubbard and Mary (Montgomery) Vandine, she was married to the late Paul Snowman for 42 years.
First and foremost, Roberta was a devout and faithful Christian her entire life. Her faith was deep and she was so excited for the promises that await. During her life she inspired many to grow deeper in their own faith and would often speak favor over the next generation and the great things they would accomplish. She was a blessing to everyone she knew. Roberta was a lifelong member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God in East Millinocket, Maine. She worked for many years at Millinocket Regional Hospital and also at the Gateway Inn. She dearly loved her big family and her little hometown.
Though her love of home ran deep, at 67 years old, she bravely packed up and headed away to Elim Bible College. She leaves a tremendous legacy of faith, courage and conviction. Even when illness drew her far away and recent memories started to fade, many memories from long ago remained... and eased her mind and brought comfort.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters: Leslie, Joseph, Reuben, Elsie Tucker, Marion Tozier, Alfred, Albert, Gareth and Audrey. Roberta is survived by her sister Melissa and Byron Thompson of Upsala, Ontario, and her sister-in-law Betty McLaughlin of Medway. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: David and Sandi Snowman of Westbrook, Ruth and Phillip Mitchell of Medway, Carl and Star Snowman of Delaware, Jean and Tim Meade of Virginia, Judy Snowman of New York, Joyce and Joseph Mancini of Georgia, and Janice and Toby Sarvis of Georgia. Roberta is survived by her son Douglas and his wife Marilois of Falmouth, MA; her daughter Pamela of East Millinocket; and her son Daniel and his wife Alaysha of Smithfield, RI. Roberta also leaves seven grandchildren, Valerie and husband Adam Miller, Trey, JD, Spencer, Paul, Christian and Violet. Aunt Birdie was much loved and will be mourned by dozens and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was also a special cousin and friend to a great many. She loved and was truly loved.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at Calvary Temple Assembly of God with interment on the Grindstone. Details will be forthcoming. Condolences may be expressed at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
