- Robert O. St. Louis, 80, husband of Elizabeth "Betty" St. Louis, passed away March 1, 2017, surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia. He was born Sept 24, 1936, on French Island, Old Town, a son of Arthur and Blanche (Landry) St. Louis.
Bob and Betty were married October 31, 1964. While raising his family, he worked various jobs including Columbia Market, The Pie Plate and his last job as a custodian for the Orono School Dept. for more than 20 years.
Bob loved to joke around and always made people smile right up to the end of his life. He enjoyed music, dancing with Betty, and playing the piano. He enjoyed spending weekends cooking large meals for his family on Sundays and could often be found around town at yard sales. Bob was an avid sports enthusiast; he loved the Boston Red Sox and loved taking every opportunity to attend local high school sporting events and always looked forward to the high school basketball tournament every year. He loved his Old Town Indians.
Bob is survived by his wife, Betty; five children, Margie Beal, Laurie Somers and her husband, Martin, Julie Faloon and her husband, Glenn, MaryAnn Foster and her fiance, Cory Mason, and Rob St. Louis Jr. and his wife, Ronda; brothers, Roland, Jamie and Reggie St. Louis; 10 grandchildren, Kristy Morin, Shawn Beal, Steve Goslin Jr., Jerry and Matt Faloon, Jessica Cloukey, Kacy Mercier, Aimee Nicholson, Cody and Jacob St. Louis; 10 great-grandchildren, Bryce and Jaidyn Morin, Colby and Devan Beal, Maddie Goslin, Kaelyn and Blake Cloukey, Anna Mercier, Cali and Addi Nicholson. He was predeceased by six brothers, Frank, Harold, Patrick, Arthur Jr., Richard and Ricky St. Louis.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Orono Commons for the care they provided over the past 10 years.
Friends and family will gather from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham Funeral Home, where a service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Spring burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Memorial contributions may be made to a special fund to support both Old Town and Orono High School Athletics, c/o University Credit Union, 15 Main St., Orono, ME 04473.
