BREWER - Robert F. Kearns, 81, husband of Florence L. (Goodreau) Kearns, died Oct. 20, 2014 at a the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Mar. 9. 1933 in Bangor, the son of Robert F. Kearns, Sr. and Rose M. (Russell) Kearns.
Robert was a graduate of John Bapst High School where he was active in sports and was a US Navy veteran serving during Korea. He worked at Eastern Fine Paper in Brewer and owned and operated his own business, Bob's Trucking, for many years. He enjoyed sports and could usually be found on the back porch in the swing or in the recliner listening to a game, especially a Red Sox game. Robert and Florence were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved his family and his great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years of Brewer are three sons, Robert Kearns and his wife, Doreen of Bangor, Ronald Kearns and his wife, Sandy and Terrence Kearns and his wife, Karen both of Brewer; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Rita Gilbert and her husband, Michael; one brother, Thomas Kearns and his wife, Lisa; a sister-in-law, Ann Kearns; a special family member, Nancy Kearns; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, by one brother and by a son, Larry Kearns and a grandson, Adam Kearns. He will be remembered by a special caregiver, Cindy, whom he affectionately referred to as his "babysitter."
Family and friends may visit 5 - 7 PM Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where a service honoring Robert's life will be held 11 AM Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 with Rev. Roland Nadeau, presiding. Burial will be at a later date. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be immediately afterward.
