SEARSPORT - Richard "Rich" Dolan, 65, passed away Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born July 26th, 1950 in Salem, MA, the son of Charles and Frances (Actis) Dolan.

Rich graduated from Salem High School and Salem State College with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. Rich was also a talented musician playing several instruments, favoring his Martin Guitar. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. As a young man he made a profession of singing, playing and performing in the Boston area. He knew many songs by heart and played them often at family gatherings.

In 1981 Rich moved to Maine with his future wife Sandy. They married in Searsport in his mother-in-law's back yard in 1984. They built their home in Searsport and raised their two sons Ross and Alec.

In 1987 he went to work for the IRS. He started out at the front desk, eventually working his way up to office manager of Revenue Agents in Bangor, Augusta and Portland. From 1995-2000 he served as President of the Maine chapter of the National Treasury Employees Union. From 2000-2005 he served as Vice President of the National Office of NTEU. He was brought to retirement by cancer in the Spring of 2015.

Rich will be remembered as a fun, generous and above all, loving, father and husband. He loved to garden. Work around the house and engage a good novel by the fireside during winter months. Rich enjoyed travel including trips with his family to Ireland, Italy, Canada and all over the USA.

He is survived by his wife Sandy Dolan of Searsport ME, sons Ross and Alec Dolan of Portland ME, older sister Claire and husband Frank Markey of Brattleboro, VT. He is predeceased by both of his parents. There will be a gathering of remembrance with family and friends held in the Spring at the family home.
