- Richard T. 'Dick' Austin, 80, died peacefully October 7, 2017 at a local hospital from complications of an aortic aneurysm. Richard was born January 31, 1937, in Hallowell, Maine, and was adopted as a toddler by Edwin D. and Minola M. Austin. He attended and graduated from the Ellsworth school system in 1955. Austin, for several years, and later became caretaker for the late Mary Clark Rockefeller and her family. Dick loved hunting and fishing at their family camp on Spectacle Pond. Spending time with his family brought him great joy, as he closely followed their many interests that included car racing, auto repair, cooking, fishing, boating, art, dentistry, and writing. He could hardly wait to decorate for each upcoming holiday, especially Christmas.

Austin; grandchildren Ayla and her family, Megan Sue Austin and her family; his stepson Joseph K. DeBeck and his wife Leah of Ellsworth; his stepgrandchildren, Jason J. Patten, Joshua J.
