- Raymond W. Hartley, Jr., 80, died on July 13, 2017. He was born June 2, 1937, in North Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Raymond W. Hartley, Sr. and Gladys (Steere) Hartley.
Raymond spent his life pursuing a wide range of interests in the arts, engineering and nature. He graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University with a degree in Engineering and pursued a career as an Engineer with United Technologies in Connecticut. He later moved to Maine to pursue his love for nature. Raymond lived life on his own terms. He greatly enjoyed his accomplishments and the ability to help others in his community. He was very creative and artistic and used his skills and talents from drawing highly detailed pen and ink pieces to designing and building an energy efficient, solar home in the woods. Raymond was a former state weightlifting champion who was very athletic throughout his life. He also loved golfing, gardening, camping, running and hiking and all efforts to conserve and protect nature.
Raymond is survived by, his wife, Bertina Hartley and her children; his first wife and mother of his daughter, Norma Hartley; his loving daughter, June Hartley; his brother, Dave Hartley and his wife Sandra; his niece, Heather Hartley; his nephew, David Hartley Jr., wife, Cheryl and their two sons Ryan and Ian.
