- Raylene A. Marden, known to her friends as "Ray Girl", passed away in the early morning hours of December 11, 2017 at the age of 62. The daughter of Helen Arline Rooney Marden and Eugene Walter Marden, Raylene was born on December 20, 1954 in Belfast, Maine. She graduated from Hampden Academy and went on to attend the University of Southern Maine in Gorham where she majored in Theatre. Described as a fun loving, creative and beautiful free spirit, she was never happier than playing an integral role in the production of a play. Whether starring in "Star Spangled Girl" or "Fashion" (which went on to receive top honors at the American College Theatre Festival) or building 20 pairs of angel wings for a production of "Company", Ray was in her element on or back stage.
President of the Dynasty Fan Club, Raylene loved to dance, draw, cook, write and enjoy summer days at Fort Williams. Her sharp wit and artistic talent were evidenced in a humorous line of greeting cards that she created with her best friend, Janet. She loved a great Whoopie pie, testing new recipes and tapping down supermarket aisles.
Her adventurous spirit eventually took her to Los Angeles where she thrived in the beautiful weather and in the company of more wonderful friends, notably Steve, who shared her same sense of humor. But perhaps her greatest love was her dog, Cody, whom she doted on, often dressing her up for hilarious holiday photo shoots.
She is survived by her brother, Perry, of Winterport, her brother, Michael, and sister-in-law, Pamela, of Hampden and her brother, John, and sister-in-law, Daphne, of Dothan, Alabama in addition to 6 nephews and 2 nieces.
Interment will be private. Donations in memory of Raylene can be made to the Bangor Humane Society 693 Mt. Hope Ave. Bangor, ME 04401.
