Prudence's Story

OLD TOWN - Prudence (Grant) Kennedy, 77, died unexpectedly November 1, 2015 at EMMC surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Old Town a daughter of Anthony and Margaret (White) Grant.

Prudence graduated from Old Town High School class of 1956. She was employed at the University of Maine for over 40 years, retiring in 2001 from the computing center. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, needlepoint and crocheting, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her trip to Cabo, Mexico. She was an avid Johnny Cash, Red Sox and Patriots fan.

She is survived by two sons Kurt Kennedy and his wife Anna of Waterboro, Todd Kennedy of Old Town; four grandsons Andrew Kennedy of New Hampshire, Derrick, Dustin, and Dalton Kennedy all of Waterboro; sister Peggy Grant of Old Town; two brothers-in-law, Ed Kennedy and his wife Dot; Glen Kennedy and his wife Peggy; sister-in-law Janice Madore; close friend "adopted son" Chris Crawford; several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband of 53 years Harold John Kennedy in 2011; two sons Eric Gray-Kennedy and Scott Kennedy;; parents Anthony and Margaret Grant and brother Richard Grant.

Friends may call 5-8PM Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Friday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately following services at the Cemetery, all are invited to the Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
