Priscilla's Story

Falmouth - Priscilla W. Cianchette, age 84, of Falmouth, died unexpectedly Monday morning September 4, 2017 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Priscilla was born in Stockton Springs, ME, on May 24, 1933, to Mary Williams and Earle Winslow. She graduated from Husson College and worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Ernest Stein in Pittsfield, where she met her late husband and her true partner in life, Ival R. (Bud) Cianchette. They married in 1952 and raised five children. Throughout her lifetime, Priscilla was involved in numerous civic, community, and charitable organizations.
For over 50 years Priscilla set the standard for gracious hospitality and greeted everyone with her trademark beautiful smile and twinkle in her eyes. She loved to entertain and over the years hosted countless parties, events and gatherings; she was particularly well known for hosting fundraising events for a majority of Maine's most prominent political figures. Priscilla was the consummate hostess and made everyone feel welcome in her home.
Priscilla was extremely thoughtful and had a unique ability to remember everyone's name and birthday and never missed an opportunity to do something nice for someone. If your paths frequently crossed she probably gave you a present! More importantly, she was a friend to all and her personality was warm, fun loving, loyal, and above all, gracious. In the words of many, "she was lovely."
Priscilla was the bedrock of her family. She spent her lifetime devoted to her husband, Bud, as together they raised their family and he worked with his brothers to grow a family business. They had a remarkable relationship based on true love and commitment. With that as the foundation, they enjoyed an incredible journey, sharing great love, and rich experiences. Priscilla and Bud traveled the world, but she was, as always, most content at home with her family. It was there she could enjoy and take delight in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She gave all of them unconditional love and support, and had a remarkable way of having a unique relationship with each one; always making them feel special. In turn, they all adored her and hold a very special place in their hearts for her. Priscilla also loved being part of the large extended Cianchette family and treasured the relationships she had with her in-laws and their families.
Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Virginia W. Soucy, her son-in-law Joseph M. Koch, and her husband Ival R. (Bud) Cianchette.
Priscilla is survived by her sons, Thomas Cianchette and wife Bonnie, Earle Cianchette and wife Maryellen, Mark Cianchette, Peter Cianchette and wife Carolyn, and her daughter, Susan Koch. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Kenneth Cianchette and wife Lucette, and sisters-in-law- Marilyn Cianchette and Helen Cianchette. Priscilla also leaves ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday September 9, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Jones Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A private committal service will be held later that day at Pittsfield Village Cemetery in Pittsfield.
