- Paul was born on April 17, 1957 in Castine, Maine, the son of Stuart and Dorothy Barnard. He played football for Bucksport and graduated high school in 1975. Paul started working for the Bucksport paper mill right after he graduated and was a dedicated employee for thirty-nine years until the mill shut down in 2014. He worked as a custodian for the Bangor School Department for the past few years, a job in which he thoroughly enjoyed and that allowed him to see his grandchildren every day.
Paul was a kind and hard-working man. He was a devoted husband, son, father, and Papa, and he loved his family with his whole heart. He was a nearly unbeatable chess player, and sharp as a tack at cribbage, but for Paul there was no greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed and the hole left by his absence will be impossible to fill.
Paul is survived by his mother, Dorothy Barnard; his loving wife, Rebecca Barnard; sisters, Susan, Barbara, and Judy; son and spouse, Matthew and Laura Barnard; daughter, Meagan Bridges; grandchildren, Maya, Grace, Scarlett, Lola, Ellie, and Jack; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stuart Barnard, his brother, Sandy Barnard, and daughter, Jessica Dawn Barnard.
